CANADA TEMPORARY RESIDENCE

Canada Visitor Visa Consultants in Dubai, UAE

Professional Support for Tourism, Family Visits and Business Travel

A Canada Visitor Visa—officially called a Temporary Resident Visa or TRV—allows an eligible foreign national to travel to Canada and request entry for a temporary visit.

A visa officer may issue a single-entry or multiple-entry visa. A visitor visa can generally be valid for up to 10 years, or until the applicant’s passport or biometrics expire, whichever comes first. Most visitors are admitted for up to six months, although the border officer determines the authorised stay at entry.

Key Features of Visitor Visa

Purpose Review | Financial Evidence | UAE Ties | Invitation Letters | Refusal-Risk Assessment

4. Who can apply for a Canada Visitor Visa?

An applicant must generally demonstrate that they:

  • Hold a valid passport
  • Are in good health
  • Have no disqualifying criminal or immigration history
  • Have sufficient funds for the proposed visit
  • Have meaningful ties outside Canada
  • Will leave Canada at the end of the authorised stay
A medical examination or invitation letter may also be requested depending on the applicant’s circumstances.

Common visit purposes

🌴 Tourism

A tourism file should present a realistic itinerary, proposed accommodation, travel dates and a budget consistent with the applicant’s income.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family or friend visit

The application may include an invitation letter, evidence of the relationship, the host’s Canadian status and information about who will pay for the visit.

An invitation letter can support the application, but it does not guarantee visa approval. The officer continues to assess the visitor’s own eligibility and temporary intent.

💼 Business visit

Business visitors may attend meetings, conferences, conventions, trade fairs, training or other limited international business activities. They must not enter the Canadian labour market, and their principal place of business and source of income should remain outside Canada.

A visitor visa should not be presented as permission to take employment in Canada.

5. The four areas a strong file should address

1. Clear purpose of visit

The application should explain:

  • Why Canada was selected
  • Exact intended dates
  • Cities and places to be visited
  • Who the applicant will meet
  • Where the applicant will stay
  • Why the proposed duration is reasonable
  • Who will pay for the trip

Useful evidence can include:

  • Travel itinerary
  • Hotel reservations
  • Event registration
  • Family invitation
  • Wedding invitation
  • Business correspondence
  • Conference registration
  • Employer travel approval

IRCC identifies itinerary documents such as flight details, accommodation and event registration as useful supporting evidence.

2. Financial capacity

There is no single published bank-balance amount that guarantees approval.

The funds should be reasonable for:

  • Length of visit
  • Airfare
  • Accommodation
  • Local transport
  • Daily expenses
  • Number of travellers
  • Applicant’s normal financial circumstances

IRCC indicates that the amount required varies according to the duration of the visit and whether the applicant will stay in a hotel or with relatives or friends. Bank statements containing at least six months of account information can help establish the applicant’s financial position.

Large recent deposits should be explained through credible source-of-funds documents.

3. Strong UAE and home-country ties

The officer must be satisfied that the applicant will leave Canada after the visit.

Relevant ties may include:

  • Stable UAE employment
  • Approved annual leave
  • UAE residence status
  • Business ownership
  • Spouse and children
  • Dependent parents
  • Property
  • Continuing studies
  • Professional obligations
  • Financial investments
  • Previous immigration compliance

IRCC expressly identifies employment, a home, financial assets and family as examples of ties that may support a visitor’s return.

4. Credible travel and immigration history

Previous travel can help demonstrate that the applicant has obtained visas and complied with the immigration conditions of other countries.

IRCC recommends providing relevant previous passports, visas, entry and exit stamps, and past study or work permits from the preceding 10 years where available.

Previous refusals must be disclosed accurately.

7. Applying from Dubai and the UAE

Canada Visitor Visa applications are generally submitted online. Paper applications are accepted only in limited situations, such as where the applicant cannot apply online or uses certain refugee, stateless-person or non-citizen travel documents.

Application process

Step 1

Profile and purpose assessment

Review travel purpose, family circumstances, funds, UAE residence and previous immigration history.

Step 2

Document strategy

Identify the documents needed to establish: Purpose, Affordability, Temporary intent, Employment or business ties, Family circumstances.

Step 3

Online application

Complete the application, upload supporting evidence and pay the applicable government fees.

Step 4

Biometrics

Where required, IRCC issues a Biometric Instruction Letter. The applicant then books an appointment at a Canada Visa Application Centre. Canada currently has VAC locations in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Biometrics appointments are free to book; applicants should not pay anyone merely to secure an appointment.

Step 5

IRCC assessment

IRCC may request: Additional documents, An interview, Medical examination, Police certificate. Processing time varies by country, file completeness, verification requirements and additional steps.

Step 6

Passport submission

When an online application is approved, IRCC sends instructions through the applicant’s account for passport submission and visa issuance.

8. Government fees

Government charge Current fee
Visitor Visa CAD 100 per applicant
Family of five or more applying together Maximum CAD 500
Biometrics CAD 85 per applicant
Family biometrics applying together Maximum CAD 170

The CAD 500 family visa fee applies only where at least five qualifying family members apply at the same time and place.

Reviewed: July 2026. VAC passport transmission and optional service charges may be additional.

9. Visa validity and permitted stay

Visa validity

A visitor visa may be issued for: One entry; or Multiple entries. Its maximum validity can be up to 10 years but may be shorter depending on passport validity, biometric validity and the officer’s assessment.

Length of each stay

Most visitors may remain for up to six months per entry. The border officer may authorise a shorter or longer period and may place a date in the passport or issue a visitor record.

Entry is not guaranteed

A valid visa permits travel to a Canadian port of entry; it does not guarantee admission. The border officer must remain satisfied that the traveller meets the entry requirements and will leave at the end of the authorised stay.

10. Common refusal risks

Unclear or inconsistent visit purpose
Travel duration disproportionate to income
Insufficient or unexplained funds
Weak UAE employment or business evidence
Limited evidence of family or economic ties
Invitation letter relied upon as the entire case
Recent unexplained bank deposits
Contradictory forms and supporting documents
Undisclosed previous refusals
Weak travel history combined with other concerns
Proposed activity that appears to involve work
Doubt that the applicant will leave Canada

Reapplying after refusal

Submitting the same evidence again will usually not resolve the previous concerns.

IRCC advises that a new application should address the refusal reasons with changed circumstances, new information or stronger documents. A reapplication still carries no guarantee of approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much bank balance is required for a Canada Visitor Visa?

Canada does not publish one fixed amount that guarantees approval. The funds should reasonably cover airfare, accommodation, daily expenses and the proposed duration, while remaining consistent with the applicant’s income and financial history.

Yes. A UAE resident can generally submit the application online and, where required, provide biometrics at the Dubai or Abu Dhabi Canada VAC.

Not in every case. It may be important for a family or business visit, but an invitation does not guarantee approval.

It may be valid for up to 10 years, or until the passport or biometrics expire, whichever occurs first. The officer decides the actual validity and whether it will be single or multiple entry.

Most visitors are admitted for up to six months, although the border officer may authorise a different period.

A visitor visa does not generally authorise employment. Limited business-visitor activities may be permitted where the visitor does not enter the Canadian labour market and their principal business and income remain outside Canada.

Yes. Each family member must meet the visitor requirements. A maximum CAD 500 visa fee may apply where five or more qualifying family members apply together at the same time and place.

Most temporary-residence applicants need biometrics unless an exemption or valid previous biometric record applies. The current fee is CAD 85 per person or a family maximum of CAD 170.

Yes, but the new application should directly address the previous refusal reasons with stronger evidence or changed circumstances. Refiling the same documents is unlikely to change the outcome.

No. The final admission decision is made by the Canadian border officer when the traveller arrives.

No. A standard visitor visa usually permits stays of up to six months. The Super Visa is a separate route for qualifying parents and grandparents and can permit stays of up to five years per entry.
