NEW ZEALAND TOURISM, FAMILY & TEMPORARY VISITS

New Zealand Visitor Visa Consultants in Dubai, UAE

Professional Support for Tourism, Family Visits and Temporary Travel

The New Zealand Visitor Visa allows eligible applicants to travel for a holiday, visit family or friends, study for up to three months and undertake other permitted temporary activities.

Depending on the travel conditions granted, a visitor may receive a single-entry or multiple-entry visa and may be permitted to stay for up to six or nine months. Applicants must demonstrate genuine temporary intentions, sufficient funds or acceptable sponsorship, and the ability to leave New Zealand at the end of their stay.

Superior Consulting Global LLC FZ assists UAE and GCC residents applying for:

  • Tourism and sightseeing
  • Visiting relatives or friends
  • Family weddings and special occasions
  • Honeymoons and family holidays
  • Short recreational courses
  • Business meetings and conferences
  • Remote working during a genuine holiday
  • Reapplication after a previous refusal

4. Do you need a Visitor Visa or an NZeTA?

The required travel permission is determined mainly by the traveller’s passportβ€”not merely by holding UAE residence.

UAE and GCC passport holders

Citizens of the following GCC countries are currently included on New Zealand’s visa-waiver list:

  • Bahrain
  • Kuwait
  • Oman
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates

They can generally request a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authorityβ€”NZeTA before travelling for a short visit rather than applying for a Visitor Visa. A visa-waiver visitor is normally permitted a visit of less than three months, subject to border approval and all entry requirements.

Pakistani passport holders

Pakistan is not included on New Zealand’s current visa-waiver list. Pakistani nationals living in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or elsewhere in the UAE will therefore generally need to obtain a Visitor Visa before travelling.

UAE residence does not replace a visa
A valid UAE residence visa does not make a visa-required passport eligible for an NZeTA.
However, UAE residence remains important because it establishes:
  • The applicant’s lawful country of residence
  • Employment or business circumstances
  • Family and financial commitments
  • The applicant’s right to return after the trip

Processing times are historical service indicators, not guarantees for an individual application.

6. What are β€œgenuine intentions”?

A Visitor Must Intend to Stay Temporarily

Immigration New Zealand assesses whether the applicant:

  • Intends to remain temporarily
  • Is visiting for the purpose stated in the application
  • Will comply with visa conditions
  • Will not remain without lawful status
  • Has a genuine plan to leave at the end of the visit

The assessment can consider the information in the current application, the applicant’s personal circumstances and information previously provided to New Zealand immigration authorities.

Evidence supporting genuine intentions

Clear travel purpose

  • Tourism itinerary
  • Accommodation arrangements
  • Family invitation
  • Wedding or event invitation
  • Conference registration
  • Business correspondence
  • Short-course enrolment
  • Explanation of proposed travel dates

UAE employment ties

  • Employment certificate
  • Position and salary
  • Length of employment
  • Approved annual leave
  • Payslips
  • Salary bank credits
  • Expected return-to-work date

UAE business ties

  • Trade licence
  • Company ownership
  • Corporate tax or VAT records
  • Business bank statements
  • Contracts and invoices
  • Employees
  • Office lease
  • Evidence the business will continue during the trip

Family and social ties

  • Spouse and children
  • Dependent parents
  • Family residence in the UAE
  • Continuing education
  • Property or tenancy
  • Professional and community responsibilities
No single document guarantees approval. The complete application should present a credible temporary travel pattern.

7. How much bank balance is required?

New Zealand Publishes a Minimum Maintenance Standard

Where the applicant is paying for the visit personally, they must generally demonstrate at least:

Accommodation position Minimum maintenance funds
Accommodation not prepaid NZD 1,000 per person per month
Accommodation already prepaid NZD 400 per person per month

Evidence can include bank statements, credit-card statements and proof that accommodation has already been paid. The account evidence should identify the account holder, bank and currency.

Important: airfare is additional
The money available to purchase an onward or return ticket must be in addition to the applicant’s living-expense funds. The applicant may provide a confirmed ticket or evidence that they can afford to purchase one.

A minimum amount is not automatically sufficient

An application should still explain whether the proposed trip is affordable when compared with:

  • Airfare from the UAE
  • Accommodation
  • Domestic travel
  • Activities
  • Family size
  • Applicant’s salary or business income
  • Normal monthly expenses
  • Previous financial history

Recent unexplained deposits should be supported by lawful source evidence.

8. Can someone in New Zealand sponsor the visit?

An acceptable sponsor may take responsibility for accommodation, maintenance and, where required, the visitor’s travel out of New Zealand.

An individual sponsor must generally be a New Zealand citizen or an eligible New Zealand resident and ordinarily live in New Zealand while providing sponsorship. Sponsorship does not guarantee visa approval; the applicant must still meet the remaining Visitor Visa requirements.

The sponsor normally completes the Sponsorship Form for Temporary Entryβ€”INZ 1025 and may provide:

  • Bank statements
  • Payslips
  • Employment evidence
  • Accommodation-ownership documents
  • Rental evidence
  • Proof of relationship with the applicant

9. Remote work and digital nomads

New Zealand Allows Certain Overseas Remote Work

Visitor Visas applied for on or after 27 January 2025 permit remote work for an employer or client located outside New Zealand.

Permitted remote activity can include:

  • Answering work emails
  • Attending online meetings
  • Coding and testing
  • Writing reports
  • Giving presentations to overseas colleagues
  • Providing remote services to overseas clients
  • Producing online content not commissioned by a New Zealand business

There is currently no immigration limit on the amount of qualifying overseas remote work performed while holding these visitor conditions.

What is not permitted?

A visitor cannot:

  • Work for a New Zealand employer
  • Provide goods or services to a New Zealand business or person
  • Exchange services for free accommodation from a New Zealand operator
  • Perform work that requires physical presence at a New Zealand workplace
The primary immigration purpose must still be accurately presented. A person travelling for New Zealand employment requires an appropriate work visa.

10. Tourism, family visit or business visit?

Tourism

The general Visitor Visa is appropriate for holidays, sightseeing, visiting friends and other genuine recreational travel.

Family visit

A family-visit file may include:

  • Invitation letter
  • Host’s identity
  • New Zealand citizenship or residence evidence
  • Proof of relationship
  • Accommodation details
  • Sponsorship documentation where applicable
An invitation alone does not establish genuine intentions.

Business activities

Applicants travelling for business meetings, commercial discussions, conferences or approved short-term business purposes may need the separate Business Visitor Visa.

Business visitors must establish the business purpose, financial support and intention to leave. A person entering to undertake employment or productive work for a New Zealand organisation may require a work visa instead.

11. Recommended document structure

Personal identity

  • Current passport
  • Previous passports
  • UAE residence visa
  • Emirates ID
  • Passport photograph
  • Marriage and birth certificates where relevant

Travel purpose

  • Covering explanation
  • Tourism itinerary
  • Accommodation
  • Proposed travel dates
  • Family invitation
  • Event or conference registration
  • Business correspondence where applicable

Employment or business

  • Employment certificate
  • Approved leave
  • Payslips
  • Salary credits
  • Trade licence
  • Company ownership
  • Corporate tax or VAT records
  • Business banking
  • Contracts and invoices

Financial documents & Return evidence

Financial documents:

  • Recent personal bank statements
  • Savings and investments
  • Prepaid accommodation receipts
  • Trip budget
  • Explanation of major deposits
  • Sponsor documents where applicable

Return evidence:

  • Employment obligations
  • Business commitments
  • Family responsibilities
  • Study enrolment
  • UAE residence
  • Property or tenancy
  • Onward or return travel evidence

Documents not in English must be accompanied by compliant English translations and copies of the original documents.

12. Applying from Dubai and the UAE

Step 1 Confirm Visa or NZeTA eligibility

Check the requirement attached to the applicant’s passport nationality.

Step 2 Prepare the online application

Applicants can create an online account, complete the form, upload documents and pay the applicable charges electronically.

Step 3 Submit a decision-ready file

The application should include evidence of: Identity, Genuine travel purpose, Funds or sponsorship, Onward travel, UAE circumstances, Family relationships, Health and character where required.

Step 4 Respond to further requests

Immigration New Zealand may request: Additional financial evidence, Passport submission, Medical examination, Chest X-ray, Police certificate, Further genuine-intention evidence. A chest X-ray is not normally required for a visit of less than six months, and a medical certificate is not normally required for a stay of less than 12 months, although individual circumstances can lead to additional requirements.

Step 5 Receive the eVisa

Where approved, Immigration New Zealand generally emails the applicant an eVisa. The passport details must match the eVisa before travel.

Step 6 Passport or VAC request

Where passport submission or another in-person service is required, the official New Zealand Visa Application Centre in the UAE is located at Wafi Mall in Dubai. VAC appointments and service charges may apply.

13. Government charges and processing

Reviewed: July 2026

Charge or timeframe Current official position
Visitor Visa From NZD 441
International Visitor Levy NZD 100 where applicable
VAC services Additional where used
Current processing indicator 80% within approximately 1.5 weeks

The official Visitor Visa page currently displays a starting cost of NZD 441. The International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy is NZD 100 for many international visitors and is charged within the applicable visa or NZeTA fee calculation. Exact charges depend on the applicant’s circumstances and should be confirmed before submission.

Immigration New Zealand recommends avoiding non-refundable travel bookings until the visa has been approved.

14. Entry and passport requirements

A passport should remain valid for at least three months beyond the intended date of departure from New Zealand. Travellers may also be asked to show:

  • Their eVisa or NZeTA confirmation
  • Onward or return travel
  • Sufficient maintenance funds
  • Accommodation information
  • The New Zealand Traveller Declaration
A visa or NZeTA permits travel but does not guarantee entry. Border authorities can refuse entry where the traveller is no longer a genuine visitor or cannot establish funds, onward travel, character or compliance with their conditions.

15. Common refusal risks

Vague or inconsistent travel purpose
Trip duration disproportionate to employment leave
Insufficient maintenance funds
No additional funds for onward travel
Unexplained recent bank deposits
Weak UAE employment or business evidence
Limited reasons to return
Invitation relied upon without applicant evidence
Undisclosed refusals or immigration history
Documents inconsistent with previous applications
Intended New Zealand employment presented as tourism
Incorrect claim that local work is permitted
Sponsor unable to meet the sponsorship requirements
Missing English translations

Reapplying after refusal

A new application should address the actual refusal concerns rather than merely submitting the same documents again.

The review should identify:

  • Which genuine-intention concerns were raised
  • Whether financial evidence was sufficient
  • Whether the travel duration was credible
  • Whether UAE ties were properly documented
  • Whether sponsorship was acceptable
  • What has materially changed since refusal
